Family is off limits?
So - I don’t have a problem with the idea that a candidate’s family should be off limits. You shouldn’t attack a candidate for a problem that someone in their family has. Jimmy Carter’s alchoholic brother comes to mind.
And I’m not saying that the fact that Sarah Palin’s 17 year old daughter is pregnant in itself says anything bad about Sarah Palin - If anything, as a parent with daughters myself, it makes her seem more human.
The issue is that Sarah Palin has publicly advocated an abstenence only approach to sex education. That’s the context that makes it relevant.
I don’t think it is an attack on Sarah Palin’s family to say “Here’s someone who believes in and presumably practices abstenence-only sex ed in her own family and look how well it worked for her.”
That is not an attack on Sarah Palin’s family, but an attack on her own values and judgements.
